Why notices are where subcontractors lose money

Most Australian subcontracts make written notice a strict precondition to extra time or money. Miss the window — sometimes as short as five business days from when you became aware — and the entitlement can be gone, no matter how good the claim is. The clause decides the deadline, the form, the content and who it must go to; a notice that gets one of those wrong may as well not exist.
