Why we built SubSync
"Getting the contract reviewed" used to mean three bad options.
Option 1
Sign it unread
The default for most subcontractors. The contract goes in a drawer and the problems surface six months later.
Option 2
Ask a mate
Sometimes useful. Often not — your mate's experience is one contract, in one state, ten years ago.
Option 3
Pay $800 – $2,500
Commercial lawyer review with a five-business-day turnaround — by which time the work has started and the leverage is gone.
In 2023 the Australian Government expanded the Unfair Contract Terms regime under the Australian Consumer Law. Terms that head contractors had been slipping into subcontracts for years — broad indemnities, unrestricted set-off, payment timeframes that breach state Security of Payment Acts — became unenforceable, and in some cases attract real penalties.
The subcontractors most exposed to those terms are the ones least likely to know the law has changed. SubSync exists to close that gap.

Co-founder
Co-founder of SubSync and Director of Vettex. Over 20 years delivering commercial construction projects across Australia for builders and developers, with responsibility for projects with a combined value in excess of $450 million, including individual projects of up to $200 million. His recent work has centred on coordinating and managing complex commercial arrangements between subcontractors, head contractors and developers, including subcontract negotiation and administration, security of payment, extensions of time and liquidated damages exposure, and the resolution of disputes across the contracting chain.
